January Goals – Recap

It is now the start of February, which means it is time to evaluate how well I did on my January goals. It was very… very … um, mixed.

My January Goals included:

  • Working out every day
  • Stay injury free
  • Lose 8 pounds.

January was just a horrible month. Personally i was stressful with Lisa in-and-out-and-in-and-out of the hospital. Meanwhile the school where I teach was in the throes of final exams. Finally some of my writing work was hitting some serious deadline issues.

My typical day was up early, do chores and spend 30 minutes on the Internet doing email. Then to school and work till 3 pm. Then hospital and spend time with Lisa, deal with doctors and medical insurance and all the frustrating details involved in the hospitalization of someone you love. Then home late to spend a couple of hours getting ready fort he next day of school and trying to finish my writing projects.

Yeah, ugly. But actually looking at the goals, I didn’t do that badly.

  • Working out every day – Okay – complete and grotesque failure on this one. There were weeks I was only able to do one workout the entire week. FAIL
  • Stay injury free – Actually did manage to stay injury free. so – CHECK
  • Lose 8 pounds – Checking the scale I saw I actually lost 10.8 pounds – almost eleven! I guess being overworked with someone you care about has some silver linings – you can end up losing weight. I’m not going to write a book on this being a good strategy, though – CHECK

The final tally:

Miles run in January 2014, Month and YTD: 37.92

S0 I have February Goals to make. They are going to be similar but in some ways a bit more specific:

  1. Work Out Every Day
  2. Run 50 miles in February
  3. Stay injury free
  4. Lose 8 pounds.

I’m hoping I can make every one.

How about you? What are your goals for February?
